My client is seeking an experienced, full-time Operations Manager to lead and optimize the internal business functions that support their engineering consulting team. This is an exciting role for someone who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment and has a track record of operational leadership—especially in professional services or consulting engineering.

You’ll play a critical role in driving efficiency, supporting strategic initiatives, and helping our growing team deliver exceptional client service. Based in our Burnaby office—just steps from the Gilmore SkyTrain station—this position offers the potential for a hybrid work arrangement.

What you’ll do

As Operations Manager, you’ll lead and improve the business functions that keep the company running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include :

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of internal business functions :
  • Business development and marketing support
  • Office administration and internal systems
  • IT operations and vendor relationships
  • Contract and legal documentation processes
  • Partnering with the Finance Manager on budgeting and resource planning including conducting budget reviews and reporting cost forecasts to the leadership team
  • Collaborating with the leadership team to execute strategic process improvement initiatives and project workflow enhancements
  • Ensuring operational activities are efficient, on schedule, and within budget
  • Delegating work and overseeing performance of administrative staff and managing service provider relationships
  • Assisting project teams with operational support and planning
  • Supporting HR tasks such as onboarding and team coordination

Plus, you need the following

  • 10+ years of proven success in an operations management role, ideally in a business management in a consulting engineering or professional services environment
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in operations management, business administration, or related field
  • Strong budget planning and financial oversight skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of an organization
  • Familiarity with internal systems such as marketing tools, office platforms, contract processes, and IT coordination
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes
  • Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications
