Position Summary :
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Accounting Analyst is responsible for working within a variety of accounting fields to efficiently compile accurate information, analyze such data, and help facilitate financial reporting to fulfill internal, external, and regulatory reporting requirements. The incumbent will be detail-oriented and skilled at managing competing priorities.
Key Accountabilities :
- Accurately prepare and analyze capital, inventory and sales related journal entries and reconciliations.
- Manage the internal capital approval process, including working with cross-functional departments, checking for accuracy & completeness for Authorization for Expenditure form submissions, tracking status, and calculating ROI on projects.
- Accurately prepare, analyze, and distribute all required reporting with the utmost precision for accuracy.
- Lead the facility's product traceability under Recall Plan and Business Continuity.
- Ensure the accuracy of QMG vs. 3rd Party Inventory systems and investigate & reconcile all variances.
- Manage & analyze inventory balance sheet reconciliations for packaging / dry goods, WIP & FG.
- Investigate inventory variances by working closely with shipping / planning, and complete necessary adjustments daily / weekly as required.
- Perform Month End reporting, including Meat Variance, Dry Goods, and Dry Good Turnover reports.
- Validate CN / DN and make necessary adjustments in inventory to reflect customer returns.
- Manage and update product costing within QMG.
- Analyze and prepare value-added journal entries & related reports for operational reporting.
- Populate, analyze, and distribute weekly reports: Credit Note Reports, Sales Analysis, Destroyed product, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Process and investigate destroyed products in QMG.
- Manage Quarter & Year-end inventory counts, both onsite and at 3rd Party warehouses.
- Provide support for absences within the finance team when necessary.
- Collaborate with stakeholders on diverse initiatives, ensuring continual analysis and implementation of improvement opportunities.
- Prepare accurate working papers to support external audit requirements.
- Perform other ad hoc projects and analyses as assigned.
Requirements :
- A Diploma / Degree in Accounting or Finance with 5-10 years of progressive experience in administration, accounting / costing, analysis, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Successful completion of an Accounting designation (CPA) is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (advanced in MS Excel) and other Windows applications.
- Working knowledge of financial / operational database ERP systems; experience with AS400 is considered an asset.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational skills to prioritize competing demands and multi-task effectively.
- An enthusiastic, process-oriented self-starter who ensures accuracy and maintains confidentiality.
