Financial Analyst - Accounting and External Reporting

The Position:

The MDA Space Corporate Finance team is looking for a Financial Analyst - Accounting and External Reporting to join our team at the Brampton office.

You will gain unique space industry experience in a public company with opportunities to work on interesting and complex projects. You will work within a closely integrated team, with exposure to senior management, and interact with cross-functional teams globally.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work closely with corporate finance, shared services, and business area finance functions in the monthly close of financial reporting process and consolidation.
• Prepare accounting entries, reconciliations, and continuity schedules in accordance with GAAP.
• Analyze data, conduct variance and trend analyses, and report findings.
• Prepare audit schedules and liaise with external/internal auditors.
• Assist on ad hoc projects as required.
• Research and articulate GAAP guidance for specific business cases, such as drafting accounting memos or position papers.
• Support business integration efforts.

Job Requirements:

• Post-secondary degree, and working towards or holding a Canadian CPA designation (US CPA considered).
• At least three years of relevant experience in public accounting, such as corporate controllership of a public company or public practice accounting firms.
• Strong time management and communication skills, professionalism, and initiative.
• Ability to independently research and articulate GAAP guidance, including drafting memos or position papers.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable working with financial systems.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and maintain security clearance at the Reliability status level, pass security assessments for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and be eligible for higher clearances.

Compensation Range:

The annual salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000, based on qualifications and experience.
