Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced project manager for new building construction. The candidate will provide overall construction management from initial design to SPA, permit, construction, and occupancy. They will ensure that the project aligns with the design, budget, quality, and schedule in collaboration with owners, consultants, and subcontractors.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Review and coordinate drawings before and during the project to ensure completeness and quality.
- Create scope of work documents for trade proposals.
- Assist with selecting trade contractors and reviewing bids.
- Prepare and update detailed project budgets.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules.
- Provide ongoing updates and monitor the project schedule, addressing concerns with the project team.
- Coordinate the setup of major project equipment and events.
- Review and approve monthly contractor invoices.
- Regularly visit the site to review progress and quality control.
- Participate in monthly site meetings and coordinate with consultants and trade contractors.
- Communicate effectively regarding change orders, site instructions, and RFIs.
- Distribute project documents promptly to all parties.
- Review shop drawings and manage occupancy documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills
An effective Project Manager must have:
- Post-secondary education or training in Engineering, Construction, or related trades.
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience.
- Deep knowledge of construction specifications, materials, methods, and procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and Project.
- Leadership skills to assess and manage trade performance.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to construction challenges.
- Scheduling, monitoring, and resource forecasting abilities.
- Experience managing budgets, contracts, and document control processes.
- Knowledge of construction law and building codes.
- Strong planning, organizational, and communication skills.
- Problem-solving, decision-making, and adaptability skills.
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently and under pressure.
