Early Readers / Phonics Teacher

Oxford Learning Centres Inc. is seeking part‑time Teacher‑Tutors to lead our Little Readers program, an enriched phonics curriculum for children aged 3‑6.

Position is in‑person at Oxford Learning Kerrisdale, Vancouver, BC. Applicants must be able to commute to this location. Vulnerable sector screening is mandatory. Relocation packages are not available.

Responsibilities

• Teach up to three students at a time in the Little Readers program, using proprietary materials to cover letter names, sounds, phonics, reading, comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and fine‑motor skills.
• Deliver lessons during scheduled times: 2–4 weekdays 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm and/or Saturday mornings 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
• Maintain a friendly, professional manner and foster a supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field; experienced university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered.
• Good knowledge of the current Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum.
• Some experience teaching/tutoring 1‑5 grade level.
• Strong English written and oral communication skills; ability to guide students’ understanding.
• Ability to multitask and work with up to three students simultaneously.

Requirements

• Available to work at Oxford Learning Kerrisdale 2‑4 weekdays 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm and/or Saturday mornings 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.
• In‑person role; commute required.
• Vulnerable sector screening mandatory.
