Job summary

Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking an Early Childhood Educator (EA4) to join our Pre-K program in the Gibbons or Bon Accord area. Location will be finalized upon hire.

You will work with a certificated teacher and Educational Assistants to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging early learning environment that supports every child to reach their full potential.

Qualifications

• Alberta ECE Level 3 Certification or equivalent is required.
• A 2-year Early Learning and Childcare diploma from an Alberta post-secondary is required.
• First Aid certification is required.
• Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check are required.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging, play-based learning experiences across cognitive, social, emotional, language and physical development.
• Create a warm, welcoming, inclusive classroom environment.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate learning opportunities.

Sturgeon Public Schools is seeking a caring, experienced, and collaborative Early Childhood Educator (EA4) to join our Pre-Kindergarten team in either the Gibbons area, or Bon Accord area. Location will be finalized upon hire.

Working alongside a certificated teacher and Educational Assistants, you'll play a leadership role in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every child is supported to reach their full potential. Through play-based learning, strong relationships, and intentional programming, you'll help build the foundation for each child's future success.

What You'will Be Doing

• Collaborate with the classroom teacher, Educational Assistants, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support each child's individual learning goals
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to Educational Assistants within the Pre-K classroom
• Support children with diverse learning, behavioural, medical, and personal care needs with compassion and dignity
• Observe, document, and communicate children's growth and development to support programming and family engagement
• Foster positive relationships with families through ongoing communication and collaboration
• Support positive behaviour strategies that promote self-regulation, independence, and social-emotional development
• Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment while supporting effective classroom operations

What You Bring

• Alberta Early Childhood Educator Level 3 Certification (or equivalent)
• A 2-year Early Learning and Childcare diploma program offered by an Alberta post-
• secondary institution or approved educational equivalency as per the AB Early
• Extensive experience and specialized training working with children who exhibit challenging behavior and applying positive behavior supports or specialized training in another program area to meet unique needs
• A strong understanding of child development with respect to language acquisition and language development
• Demonstrated knowledge of financial management including budget development and accountability for expenditures
• Certificate in First Aid training
• Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check

Assets

• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention for Schools (TCIS) training
• Extensive knowledge of supportive management strategies appropriate for children with diverse learning needs.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to continue professional development as it pertains to job assignment
