Job summary

Sturgeon Public Schools in Alberta are seeking enthusiastic Substitute Teachers to support students across a wide range of grades and subjects. You will help maintain continuity of learning when regular teachers are away and adapt to different classrooms.

Applicants should hold a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for certification, have strong classroom management, and be able to build relationships quickly with students and staff. A current Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

Qualifications

• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or eligibility for certification.
• Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments.
• Demonstrated proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Clear Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check, completed within the past 6 months.

With 17 schools serving diverse rural and urban communities throughout Sturgeon County, including two high schools, substitute teachers play a vital role in ensuring students continue to learn, grow, and thrive when their regular teacher is away. Whether your passion is elementary education, secondary academics, Career and Technology Studies (CTS), French Immersion, the arts, or physical education, we invite you to bring your talents to our classrooms.

Our schools are located throughout Sturgeon County, about a 30 minute drive north of the cities of Edmonton and St. Albert. Additionally, there is no public bus service to the majority of our schools, applicants are strongly encouraged to have reliable transportation, and a valid driver's license.
