Job summary

Boys and Girls Club Okanagan is hiring an on-call Early Childhood Educator Assistant to support our Kelowna/West Kelowna programs. On-call hours vary, with shifts between 7:30am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday. You will assist with planning and leading activities while ensuring safety and licensing compliance.

Applicants should hold an ECE Assistant certificate and a current First Aid certificate. Agency screening and a criminal record check are required. Rate of pay is $21.86 per hour.

Qualifications

• Early Childhood Educator Assistant certificate
• Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
• Successful completion of Agency screening process, including a criminal record check

Responsibilities

• Assists in planning, preparing and carrying out developmentally appropriate program and activities for children
• Ensures activities adhere to BGC Okanagan policies and childcare licensing regulations
• Monitor, guide and assist children in daily activities
• Attends to children's physical needs (diapering, toileting, eating, sleeping)
• Models developmentally appropriate activities and positive behavior management
• Keeps facilities and equipment safe and clean; reports repairs/concerns to senior staff
• Administers first aid and medication per policy
• Maintains healthy environment and identifies potential hazards
• Maintains records and communicates with senior staff
• Establishes positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assists in planning, preparing and carrying out developmentally appropriate program and activities. Program schedules include indoor/outdoor, active/quiet and individual group activities.
• Ensures activities adhere to the BGC Okanagan Policies and Childcare Licensing Regulations.
• Monitor, guide and assist children in daily activities.
• Attends to children's physical needs, which may include diapering, toileting, eating and sleeping.
• Model developmentally appropriate activities and positive behaviour management techniques. Conducts activities with children on an individual and group basis to promote the development of physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills.
• Keep program facilities and equipment safe and clean, reporting any repairs and concerns to senior staff.
• Administers first aid and medication in accordance with established policy.
• Ensures a healthy and safe environment in which children can interact. Identifies and removes potential hazards.
• Maintains records, reports problems or concerns to senior staff.
• Establish positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians
