Job Title : Logistics Supervisor (Manufacturing)

Location : York Region, ON

Length of Assignment : Permanent

Our client in York Region, ON is actively looking for a Logistics Supervisor (Manufacturing) to join their team.

Position Description :

  • Overall responsibility for the following functions: Shipping Supervisor, Receiving Supervisor, Inbound shipments, Warehouse Transfers, Shunters, Warehouse Reports, Production Material Handlers, and Yard Maintenance Personnel.
  • Supervise and assist employees involved in these areas; ensure duties are carried out satisfactorily and promptly.
  • Ensure employees reporting to the Logistics Manager adhere to policies and standards outlined in the Employee Handbook and maintain employee performance.
  • Ensure departmental and company-wide measurable goals are met.
  • Establish and adhere to departmental budgets.
  • Coordinate the movement of trucks at all locations to ensure smooth, continuous flow.
  • Responsible for window times and dock studies.
  • Maximize labor utilization within the shipping department and ensure all shipments are on time and accurate.
  • Ensure shipments are ready for pickup; if not, issue and follow up on Delivery Performance concern reports with relevant personnel.
  • Work with Purchasing to negotiate expedite and LTA costs with carriers.
  • Implement and maintain a Containerization policy to manage inventory of customer returnable packaging.
  • Ensure timely repairs of returnable containers.
  • Arrange for disposal of returnable containers at the end of a cycle.
  • Distribute appropriate containers to designated work cells.

Skills & Qualifications :

  • Post-secondary education in Materials Management, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of X years related experience in a Materials role.
  • Minimum of X years experience in a Supervisory or Managerial role.
  • X years Warehouse Management System experience (preferably Solidat).
  • Familiarity with automotive MRP systems.
  • Understanding the relationship between Inventory Control and MRP.
  • Experience in Supply Chain areas such as raw materials, purchase components, outside processors.
  • Strong Lean Manufacturing and process improvement experience.
  • Knowledge of CTPAT requirements, compliance, and procedures.
  • Excellent planning, interpersonal, leadership, team-building, and organizational skills.
  • Highly adaptable, motivated, analytical, detail-oriented, and autonomous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Problem-solving ability, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and work both collaboratively and independently.
  • Professional under pressure.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and learning.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Support business requirements during evenings and weekends, when needed.
