Our client in York Region, ON is actively looking for a Logistics Supervisor (Manufacturing) to join their team.
Position Description :
- Overall responsibility for the following functions: Shipping Supervisor, Receiving Supervisor, Inbound shipments, Warehouse Transfers, Shunters, Warehouse Reports, Production Material Handlers, and Yard Maintenance Personnel.
- Supervise and assist employees involved in these areas; ensure duties are carried out satisfactorily and promptly.
- Ensure employees reporting to the Logistics Manager adhere to policies and standards outlined in the Employee Handbook and maintain employee performance.
- Ensure departmental and company-wide measurable goals are met.
- Establish and adhere to departmental budgets.
- Coordinate the movement of trucks at all locations to ensure smooth, continuous flow.
- Responsible for window times and dock studies.
- Maximize labor utilization within the shipping department and ensure all shipments are on time and accurate.
- Ensure shipments are ready for pickup; if not, issue and follow up on Delivery Performance concern reports with relevant personnel.
- Work with Purchasing to negotiate expedite and LTA costs with carriers.
- Implement and maintain a Containerization policy to manage inventory of customer returnable packaging.
- Ensure timely repairs of returnable containers.
- Arrange for disposal of returnable containers at the end of a cycle.
- Distribute appropriate containers to designated work cells.
Skills & Qualifications :
- Post-secondary education in Materials Management, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of X years related experience in a Materials role.
- Minimum of X years experience in a Supervisory or Managerial role.
- X years Warehouse Management System experience (preferably Solidat).
- Familiarity with automotive MRP systems.
- Understanding the relationship between Inventory Control and MRP.
- Experience in Supply Chain areas such as raw materials, purchase components, outside processors.
- Strong Lean Manufacturing and process improvement experience.
- Knowledge of CTPAT requirements, compliance, and procedures.
- Excellent planning, interpersonal, leadership, team-building, and organizational skills.
- Highly adaptable, motivated, analytical, detail-oriented, and autonomous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Problem-solving ability, multitasking, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to build relationships and work both collaboratively and independently.
- Professional under pressure.
- Committed to continuous improvement and learning.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Support business requirements during evenings and weekends, when needed.
