Base pay range

CA$90,000.00 / yr - CA$100,000.00 / yr

The Senior Accountant will support the Controller, CFO, and Senior Leadership Team in achieving the organization’s financial goals by taking day-to-day ownership of delivering robust setup, accounting, and reporting for large projects as well as preparation of accurate, timely entity monthly working papers for a group of companies, to deliver critical information for public company financial reporting and business decision-making. The Senior Accountant will also assist the Controller with quarter, year-end, and audit preparation and internal control and process improvements.

This is a hybrid role with roughly one day per week in our downtown Vancouver office.

Responsibilities :

Project accounting and reporting :

• Set up projects.
• Identify and follow up budget change requirements with Development Project Managers.
• Review and approve project expenses.
• Enter and maintain subcontract information, including change orders for projects.
• Complete monthly billing of project reimbursable expenses / intercompany services.
• Prepare construction financing draw reports and distribute to CFO, Project Manager, and Quantity surveyor with supporting documentation for review and approval.
• Prepare project gross profit report and distribute to CFO for review and approval.

Accounting :

• Prepare accurate, timely entity monthly working papers, reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries which provide useful information for the following :
• Review and approve accounts payable accruals.
• Implement rigorous quality control processes to minimize errors and discrepancies in financial data.
• Provide reliable, precise financial information and ad-hoc accounting reports as required.

Tax :

• Prepare and submit GST / HST / PST tax returns and supporting documentation.

Internal control framework and risk management :

• Assist the Controller with internal control and process improvements and the documentation of policies and procedures.

Audit :

• Assist the Controller with quarter-end, year-end, and audit preparations.

Banking and working capital management :

• Invoice acquisition and development fees, rents, sub-lease income, and homeowner association fees.
• Collect sub-lease income and homeowner association fees.

Qualifications :

• CPA designation or working towards finalizing CPA.
• Project accounting experience required.
• Advanced Excel skills.
