We're Hiring: Data Analytics Specialist / Data Scientist

Remote (Canada-based) | Full-time Contract | Interviews: May 27–28, 2025

The Government of Alberta (GoA) is looking for a Data Analytics Specialist / Data Scientist to join our Data Centre of Excellence. If you're passionate about turning data into insights and shaping smarter public services, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

• Design and build data products to support the GoA Data Strategy
• Apply advanced analytics, ML, and statistical modeling
• Create dashboards and visualizations to support decision-making
• Collaborate across ministries to develop impactful, data-driven solutions
• Mentor team members and promote a culture of innovation
• Work with internal and external stakeholders to unlock the value of government data
  
  

What We’re Looking For

• 6+ years in data analytics or data science
• Strong skills in Python, R, SQL, and predictive modeling
• Experience building analytical models, dashboards, and data pipelines
• Understanding of privacy, data governance, and de-identification
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  
  

Nice To Have

• Experience with big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
• Familiarity with government datasets and cross-domain data linking
  
  

Working Conditions

• Fully remote (must reside in Canada)
• Occasional onsite meetings in Alberta (3–4 times/year)
• Must use your own equipment (compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop)
