Job description

The BA Blacktop Group of Companies is currently looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team at our Surrey Office Location.

The Accounts Payable Clerk will perform accounting and administrative duties that ensure accurate processing of financial information.

Key Tasks:

  • Processing of A/P invoices: matching packing slips & invoices, obtaining approvals, data entry, filing, preparation of payments to vendors, issuing payments (cheque runs), and account reconciliations.
  • Responding to accounts payable inquiries.
  • Assisting with Reception relief.
  • Other: performing journal entries, providing data for budgeting purposes, ensuring correct application of taxes, providing information and assistance to other departments, and performing other clerical functions as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • 2+ years' experience in a similar role.
  • High level of accuracy to ensure the correct processing of information.
  • Ability to use enterprise-level financial record-keeping software systems, spreadsheets, and email applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to complete a high volume of work within deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of basic accounting concepts.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Post-secondary accounting courses.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Construction or manufacturing background.
  • Proficiency in English and in MS Office.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
