What you'll be doing

As a member of CIBC’s team, the Consultant, Business Controls is responsible for assessing risk related to client accounts, providing risk management investigation and corrective services supporting multi-segment line management regarding regulatory requirements. The role applies advanced understanding of high-risk processes across segments, utilizing strong problem-solving skills to investigate, analyze, and recommend on compliance, operational controls, risk assessment, and control activities. The Consultant uses independent judgment to determine methods and approaches, liaising with internal and external sources to gather, verify, and discuss information and best practices. Acting as a resource, the role documents findings, develops models, reports, and conclusions to support decision-making.

How you'll succeed
  • Relationship Management: Support activities for the assigned Line of Business, partnering with senior team members and interacting with peers and the 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defense.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify risk and control issues, participate in assessments, perform root cause analyses, and develop risk maps and control process documentation.
  • Project Management: Participate in projects to identify risks, develop requirements, analyze control processes, and support remediation plans.
Who you are
  • Experience: 5+ years in risk assessment, internal controls, or internal audit, with knowledge of banking functions like Retail Operations and Cash Management.
  • Languages: Fluent in French and English.
  • Influence & Relationships: Skilled in building networks and inspiring outcomes through sharing expertise.
  • Data & Problem Solving: Enjoy investigating complex issues and communicating insights effectively.
  • People & Values: Passionate about relationships, diversity, trust, and authenticity.
