What you can expect to do here:
- Negotiate, draft, and interpret contracts, providing legal assistance.
- Support ongoing projects with legal advice throughout their lifecycle.
- Advise internal clients and stakeholders on various legal issues.
- Prepare and deliver training sessions on topics like Contracts 101, Lessons Learned, and Prompt Payment.
- Participate in internal and external meetings with stakeholders and clients.
- Draft and review legal documents, including WSP’s contract templates.
- Review RFPs and assist in preparing service proposals.
- Assess risks of business opportunities and present findings to risk committees for approval.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance, and legal regulations.
- Collaborate with Claims & Litigation teams on contractual disputes or claims.
- Ensure projects and contracts comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform other legal support tasks as needed.
What you’ll bring to WSP:
- Membership in a Bar for at least 1-2 years.
- Hybrid work model (in-office 3 days/week).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of simplifying complex legal concepts.
- Strong presentation skills for internal and senior management audiences.
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements, preferably in construction and engineering.
- Understanding of business fundamentals and risk management.
- Industry knowledge, especially in construction/engineering, joint ventures, public-private partnerships, and major project delivery methods.
- Effective conflict resolution and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple urgent projects in a dynamic environment.
- Collaborative team player with stakeholders across disciplines.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and responsibilities.
- Autonomy, initiative, and excellent time management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and familiarity with AI tools.
