Overview

• Operates specific vehicles used for project work in their field of specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in accordance with safety guidelines.

Main Responsibilities

We are seeking reliable individuals responsible for the daily operations of the SWCRR. As a highway maintenance operator, you will operate and maintain equipment used for daily company operations, and perform non-equipment tasks such as setting up traffic accommodations, flagging, and installing signs, guardrails, and delineators. This role combines equipment operation and physical labor, ensuring effective and efficient service delivery.

• Participate in and apply AHSL safety practices to all work aspects, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment.
• Prepare for work: arrive fit for duty, with adequate time before shifts, and ready with all necessary tools.
• Perform work safely and efficiently under clear supervision.
• Maintain AHSL equipment and vehicles: cleaning, verifying, minor repairs, and notifying supervisors of anomalies, following environmental guidelines and regulations.

Skills

• High school diploma or GED is an asset.
• Valid driver’s license (Class 3 or 1 with Air Brakes) with a recent 5-year abstract and reliable transportation.
• Experience in heavy equipment operation is an asset: operating and maintaining snowplows, towplows, loaders, graders, or tandem axle gravel trucks.
• Road maintenance construction experience is considered an asset.
• Ability to work long shifts up to 12 hours, including night shifts, and be on call for winter activities.
• Willingness to work outdoors in uncertain conditions and overtime when required.
• Teamwork skills and physical ability to assist co-workers with various duties.
• Effective reading, writing, and communication skills in English.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
• Ability to pass pre-employment fitness and drug/alcohol tests.
