Position overview

As a Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mobile and portable equipment. Your duties include diagnostics, mechanical overhaul, and maintenance of specialized and heavy-duty equipment such as fire trucks, runway trucks, sweepers, chemical application vehicles, mowers, and trucks with diesel and gas engines.

You will work within a team of technicians, apprentices, and planners managing an inventory of over 350 pieces of response and heavy equipment tailored for the airport environment.

1. Maintaining and repairing emergency response vehicles such as fire trucks, foam trailers, and pumps
2. Maintaining summer and winter operation vehicles and equipment
3. Maintaining specialty equipment and tooling

Key qualifications include:

• Three years of recent related experience
• Red Seal or BC Trade Qualification in Truck or Transport Mechanic or Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Excellent communication skills
• Valid BC driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 preferred)

The shift schedule is primarily 4/4 days, with winter operations requiring 24/7 shifts. Salaries range from $78,654 to $102,802 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
