The incumbent is responsible for servicing, elementary work, modification and maintenance, and specialized maintenance tasks on aircraft airframe structure, airframe and engine systems and components in accordance with the approved maintenance program using technical data that includes technical manuals and drawings.

The Airframe Mechanic will report to the IMP Group Ltd. – Aerospace and Defence location near the Halifax International Airport.

  • The Airframe Mechanic must achieve a technical level sufficient to be authorized to carry out tasks for both aircraft and R&O, these include:
  • The removal, disassembly, survey inspection and work order initiation of mechanical components.
  • The disposition and conditioning of removed mechanical components and parts.
  • The servicing, repair, modification, reassembly and installation of mechanical components.
  • Providing support to Airframe Technicians for both on and off aircraft work.
  • The safe operation of support equipment and hand/power tools while adhering to Tool and foreign Object Damage (FOD) control procedures.
  • Maintenance of a clean/safe work area utilizing safe work practices and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Performance of corrosion removal; standard and non-standard structural repairs; repair part local manufacture; standard and advanced fastener removals and installations.
  • Carrying out primary aircraft structure refurbishment including disassembly, replacement and reassembly.
  • The assembly of modification kits, including the manufacture, modification, and identification of parts and components for products manufactured, repaired or overhauled by the company.
  • Working with various composites used in the manufacture and repair of aircraft and aircraft components.
  • Performs ramp duties including, but not limited to, marshalling, parking, towing, fuelling/defueling, servicing, and post/pre-flight inspections.
  • After further training, demonstrated experience and where necessary promotion, perform authorized airworthiness functions of Shop Certification Authority (SCA), Aircraft Certification Authority (ACA), Aircraft Release Authority and Product Conformance Authority (PCA).
  • Travel and work on off-site Mobile Repair Parties/Field Teams, and Work Parties.
  • Provide on-job-training (OJT) and technical supervision to other Airframe Mechanics.
  • Attend trade training and development sessions for qualifications/authorization purposes.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures and directives as established by the company.
What You Will Bring:
  • The Airframe Mechanic must have a minimum of 4 years experience performing aircraft maintenance at an AMO or MRO.
  • The Airframe Mechanic must, as a minimum, meet one of the following: be a graduate of recognized aircraft maintenance program or apprenticeship program; hold a current Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME-M or AME-S) license; be qualified as an AVN or ACS with the Canadian Forces; be a graduate of a demonstrably equivalent foreign military/civilian basic trade-training program.
  • The Airframe Mechanic shall possess, as a minimum, a basic knowledge of aircraft structures and/or mechanical systems including, but not limited to: flight controls; hydraulic and oil distribution systems; fuel systems; oxygen systems; landing gear systems; engine systems including auxiliary power unit (APU) systems; transmission and drive train systems; propeller and rotor systems; life support and cargo systems and cabin pressurization systems.
  • The Airframe Mechanic must be capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as technical manuals, drawings, Technical Data Packages (TDPs), technical instructions and Work Orders (WOs).
  • The Airframe Mechanic must demonstrate a basic understanding of airworthiness requirements for authorization to perform airworthiness functions. Must demonstrate a compliant and skilled level of task proficiency, which is aided by course/OJT/OJE training and practical experience.
  • Must be eligible for authorization for the performance of maintenance (POM) and maintain the ability to carry out instructions and exercise self-verification of work.
  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to IMP Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies. Continually focusing on your individual safety and the safety of others who may be affected by your work and to fully comply with all Federal Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean & 5S activities in your area.
  • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Secret Level II Security Clearance through PSPC- Contract Security Program, and Transport Canada RAIC clearance.
