Job Description

Project: Canadian Royalties Inc.
Location: Northern Quebec (100km south of Deception Bay, 1800km north of Montreal, Canada)
Rotation: 14 days on, 14 days off
Shift work: 12 hours
Travel: Flights to and from Val d'Or, Montreal, Quebec City, Nunavik, and La Grande Rivière.
Accommodation: Remote site - camp

Job Summary

The primary role of the Alimak Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on the mechanized raise climber.

Responsibilities

General:

  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues
  • Repair, rebuild, and maintain Alimak mechanized raise climbers
  • Repair and maintain air and hydraulic drills
  • Maintain and repair Alimak motors, brakes, and use specialized tools for testing and repairs
  • Follow written and verbal instructions to perform duties safely and efficiently
  • Perform diagnostic testing to identify problems and determine solutions
  • Follow proper safety procedures to prevent equipment damage and ensure safety

Health and Safety:

  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment with authority and responsibility
  • Adhere to Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards, including the Five Point Safety System and Cardinal Rules, and report unsafe acts or conditions
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment
  • Understand WHMIS legislation and effectively use MSDS sheets
  • Comply with applicable mining laws and regulations
Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Journeyman qualification (trade school or college diploma)

Work Experience:

  • Knowledge of the mining industry
  • At least 3 years of maintenance and repair experience on underground mining equipment
  • Extensive experience with the installation and repair of Alimak components such as G-5 safety devices, motors, brakes, gearboxes, and control valves
  • Experience repairing hose reels, bean pumps, shafts, bearings, and assessing gear wear limits
  • Experience in synchronizing gears
  • Knowledge of rigging and slinging heavy components in confined spaces
