Manager, Business and Enterprise Services

Organization : Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming

Division : Agency Relations and Accountability Division – Fort William Historical Park

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Gaming (MTG) is seeking a strategic and dynamic leader to join their team as the Manager, Business and Enterprise Services at Fort William Historical Park. In this critical role, you will manage the business planning and operations for one of North America's largest cultural heritage attractions.

About Fort William Historical Park

Situated in Thunder Bay (on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg of Anemki Wajiw), Fort William Historical Park offers a unique glimpse into the fur trade activities of the North West Company in the early 19th century (1803 to 1821). The park spans over 250 acres and includes a campground, conference facilities, a living history museum, interactive exhibits, and engaging activities for visitors of all ages. It serves as an education and cultural hub, hosting events, workshops, and reenactments that bring life to history.

Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities

Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement of its business goals. It will be your responsibility to inspire and motivate your team to deliver their best performance and align the team's daily actions with the strategic vision of the ministry. You will contribute to the achievement of team goals by :

  • Leading and managing the business / operational planning, development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services.
  • Managing the operating and capital budgets, while contributing to long term financial and resource planning, including procurement activities.
  • Overseeing and motivating a small team, providing coaching and guidance to ensure the business planning and operational goals are met.
  • Managing the development of partnerships and consultations with key partners.
  • Overseeing and managing the human resources administrative function for the park.

Strategic Leadership and Management Skills

  • Experience in inspiring, engaging, motivating, developing, and mentoring staff.
  • Collaborative approach incorporating the values of inclusion and diversity across all elements of your management style.
  • Demonstrate good judgement, political acuity, and organizational awareness when managing issues and priorities.

Program Management and Technical Skills

  • Experience applying government administrative and financial directives and guidelines in areas including procurement, contract management, records management, accommodations, information technology, and / or assets management.
  • Knowledge of financial principles and practices for financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Experience leading complex programs and services; and anticipating and resolving issues impacting delivery.
  • Knowledge of human resources theories and practices to manage talent and succession planning activities while upholding performance standards.

Relationship Management and Communication Skills

  • Demonstrate communication, consultative, and relationship building skills to develop and maintain relationships with internal, external, and Indigenous partners.
  • Demonstrate analytical, problem-solving and issues management skills to manage a range of sensitive issues, complaints, and inquiries.
  • Experience with written communication skills to prepare briefing notes, executive correspondence, and unit policies, procedures, and documents.
