The Customer Business Manager (CBM) is accountable for overall customer performance vs. plan (AOP delivery), revenue, and margin. This role will also be responsible for customer satisfaction, distribution, merchandising planning, budget management, and communication related to Winland’s Private Brand, Control Brand, and Branded businesses.

Work Location: Remote with 40-50% travel, ideally near a major Southwest or Western territory airport.

Salary: $93K-$153K annually, based on experience, with additional bonus potential.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  1. Manage day-to-day customer relationships; primary contact for customer buyer.
  2. Provide management and oversight to the Winland broker network where applicable.
  3. Proactively sell and customize Winland’s value proposition for the customer.
  4. Ensure accurate demand planning (Forecasting) and address gaps to the Customer AOP.
  5. Own all business inputs for creating and delivering the Customer AOP at a category level.
  6. Deliver the customer and regional AOP.
  7. Develop sales and pricing initiatives aligned with Winland’s key business strategies.
  8. Enhance profitability at the customer/region level.
  9. Identify whitespace opportunities through collaboration with Insights and Analytics and develop annual plans.
  10. Work with the commercialization team to identify innovation, packaging, and assortment opportunities.
  11. Define and communicate customer requests effectively.
  12. Analyze customer data to drive business performance.
  13. Develop and execute customer trade spend strategy.
  14. Manage trade spend using Winland’s Integrated Planning System (WIPS).
  15. Provide strategic/financial recommendations for bids, trade management, and customer growth.
  16. Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver customer plans.
  17. Develop bid strategies for optimal outcomes.
  18. Coordinate with the Customer Data Specialist to define product opportunities in the Product Portfolio Management System (PPM).
  19. Achieve improvements against customer-supplier scorecard metrics.
  20. Engage leadership to support customer initiatives.
  21. Identify opportunities to reduce damages, distressed, or donated products, mitigating obsolescence risk.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of sales or related business experience.
  • Experience with broker or key account management with large or multiple accounts; ability to influence third-party partners.
  • Category leadership experience.
  • Ability to translate insights into strategic account plans for growth.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with data-driven decision-making capabilities.
  • Solid financial understanding, including P&L and pricing strategies.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, SAP, SharePoint, MS Office.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Effective management, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and build internal/external relationships.
