ARAG Legal Solutions Inc., part of the ARAG Group, is a global leader in legal expense insurance operating in 20 countries. We offer an innovative and comprehensive range of legal expense products and services for brokers, underwriting agents, and insurers across Canada.

This is an exciting 12-month contract opportunity for a seasoned Business Analyst to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The focus will be on defining and maintaining the company's solution architecture blueprint for interdepartmental efficiency. Reporting to the Vice President of Claims, you will analyze business needs, define requirements, and design effective, scalable solutions aligned with our strategic objectives. You will serve as the key link between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring solutions are fit-for-purpose and efficient. The role primarily involves claims policy processing and administration systems, along with ensuring proper integration with downstream systems for reporting. Additionally, the position provides analytical support for various projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing organizational processes.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business processes, industry standards, and requirements.
  • Build strong relationships within business units to thoroughly understand their needs.
  • Create Function Specification Documents and System Requirement Specifications.
  • Plan, facilitate, and conduct requirements gathering sessions, meetings, and presentations.
  • Translate business project needs into clearly defined scope, requirements, and user stories, including functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Document business use cases, data flows, traceability matrices, and report mockups.
  • Lead review sessions for requirements with business users to gain consensus and approval.
  • Perform gap analyses, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for proposed solutions.
  • Participate in system testing, user acceptance testing, and develop related documentation and scripts.
  • Develop frameworks to enhance efficiency across the application portfolio.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and technology partners.
  • Review emerging technologies to ensure technical integrity and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure future solutions are efficient, effective, and consistent across products and processes.
  • Work with IT project management and business units to ensure proper implementation of solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in business analysis and solutions design.
  • Understanding of business process engineering and systems development lifecycle.
  • Strong analytical, mapping, and documentation skills, including experience in writing specifications.
  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, business analysis frameworks, and solution design methodologies.
  • Ability to translate complex business needs into simple, effective solutions.
  • Experience creating business process diagrams, data rules, requirements, and user stories.
  • Knowledge of testing lifecycle, including SIT, UAT, and production environments.
  • Experience with agile and iterative methodologies, SDLC, and PMLC processes.
  • Proven ability to operate and interface with management during walkthroughs, interviews, and negotiations.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
