Qualifications

About The Role

As an Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Representative, you will provide leadership and support for the OPS - Canada Operations. Your primary goal is to implement and improve processes to ensure the safe and regulatory compliant execution of all OPS Canada activities (from an EHS perspective). You will report to the QAEHS Director and lead all daily EHS operations and activities for the OPS-Canada personnel. You will serve as the EHS Lead for all OPS Canada projects and oversee all activities at Burlington, Kitchener, Port Elgin, and Wingham offices and sites. This position requires working 3 days onsite or as needed at one of these locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and direct environmental health and safety policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Lead comprehensive cross-discipline EHS improvement plans.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce EHS risks across all assigned facilities.
  • Make decisions on programmatic issues related to environmental health and safety.
  • Collaborate with peer leaders regarding their responsibilities for daily EHS operations and excellence.
  • Investigate and report environmental health and safety incidents.
  • Enhance environmental health and safety procedures related to events.
  • Provide EHS leadership and training to organizational personnel.
  • Engage and influence entities including corporate organizations and regulators.
  • Perform internal and supplier EHS audits.
  • Ensure that regulatory and customer requirements for record-keeping are met for assigned facilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Life Sciences (e.g., Nursing, Kinesiology).
  • Minimum of 5 years overall EHS experience, with at least 2 years in a nuclear or construction environment; experience with OPG or Bruce Power is preferred.
  • Knowledge of environmental health and safety laws and regulations and their application in construction, industrial, and office environments; construction EHS experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with state, federal, and international regulations and experience working with regulatory agencies.
  • Experience managing teams in large organizations and establishing systems.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
