Position Title: NWSCC Facilities Crew Technician

Department: NWSCC

Location: North Bay

Security Clearance: Secret

Position Reports To: NWSCC Radar, Communications & Gag Supervisor

Hours of Work: Scheduled 12-hour shifts based on a 24/7 operating environment

Summary

Reporting to the NWSCC Communications & Electronics Supervisor, the NWSCC Facilities Crew Technician is responsible for monitoring the status of and remotely controlling NWS site equipment, including but not limited to power generation, electrical distribution, HVAC systems, water & sewage systems, intrusion alarms, fire alarm/suppression systems, helicopter monitor, and SCADA systems in a 7x24 shift environment.

What You Do
  • Assist in the maintenance of NWS systems, including power generation, electrical distribution, HVAC, water & sewage systems, intrusion alarms, fire alarm/suppression systems, helicopter monitor, and SCADA systems.
  • Monitor the status of and remotely control NWS site equipment, analyze data, troubleshoot faults, and adjust equipment parameters.
  • Liaise with 22 Wing System Maintenance (SM), request system downtime, verify operational status post-maintenance, and ensure accuracy of Equipment Status Reports.
  • Notify personnel of emergencies, outages, or incidents.
  • Respond to requests for status updates on NWS operations and maintenance activities.
  • Review and prioritize maintenance work requests and work orders upon completion.
Who You Are

Education: Completion of a postsecondary program in electromechanical systems or CF military equivalent.

Experience: Minimum of five years of on-the-job training in a commercial or industrial setting.

Knowledge of: Building electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and structural systems; reading and interpreting related drawings and manuals; proficiency with troubleshooting tools.

Desired Skills and Experience: Strong communication, analytical, organizational, decision-making skills; ability to work independently; proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and Maximo; customer service orientation; excellent communication skills; ability to meet shift work requirements; security clearance eligibility.
