Job description

Since 1933, Preston Phipps Inc. has been a leading distributor and manufacturers' representative of Steam, Hot Water, and Critical Air solutions across Canada. We are currently looking for a new colleague to join our Dartmouth team to support the industrial, institutional, and commercial markets in Nova Scotia and PEI as a combination internal/external salesperson.

The ideal candidate has the ability to process information well in a dynamic environment focused on customer service. Responsibilities include maintaining existing customer relationships while building opportunities with new clients. Working directly with end users, contractors, and engineering groups, you will cultivate new equipment sales opportunities while positioning our offerings with strong value-add and process improvement elements.

This role offers opportunities for personal and professional growth by increasing technical knowledge and adding value to the local maritime economy.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Identify business opportunities and proactively approach clients to inform and educate them about the company’s products, services, and capabilities.
  2. Develop annual project sales forecasts and plans to achieve growth targets.
  3. Maintain relationships with clients by providing support, information, and guidance.
  4. Meet booking targets, manage pipelines, and achieve key account management goals.
  5. Identify product improvements or new products by staying current on industry trends, market activities, and competitors.
  6. Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops and networking.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred, but not required.
  • Candidates with backgrounds in engineering, engineering technology, or solid technical sales experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, creative problem-solving skills, and conflict management abilities.
  • Experience working with engineering firms, contractors, and end users in relevant markets is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in external technical or industrial sales, including selling turnkey proposals using financial models.
  • Understanding of current and future policies, practices, and industry trends.
  • Ability to build customer relationships and navigate organizational politics effectively.
  • Strategic sales agility and the ability to articulate visions of possibilities and likelihoods.
