YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

The Organizational Development Specialist enhances the company's strategic direction by designing and delivering talent programs that build workforce capabilities, support succession planning, and promote knowledge transfer. This role drives employee growth, engagement, and retention by aligning development initiatives with business priorities. As a key link between the People & Communications team and broader organizational goals, the specialist fosters continuous improvement and innovation to ensure the organization remains competitive, agile, and future-ready. The Organizational Development Specialist actively integrates the People & Communications department charter and operating model into their key responsibilities, focusing efforts on continuous improvement, delivering an elevated employee experience, and innovative and engaging programs that align with KSPC’s strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Designs and implements talent development strategies that build future capabilities and accelerate readiness for key roles, aligned with business needs.
  2. Develops and manages succession planning frameworks to identify and prepare future leaders and successors for critical roles, ensuring continuity and resilience.
  3. Designs and implements knowledge transfer strategies that preserve critical expertise and foster organizational continuity across teams and generations of workers.
  4. Partners with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and leaders to conduct talent reviews and support career pathing for high-potential employees.
  5. Collaborates with HRBPs and business leaders to identify talent gaps and develop targeted solutions to close them.
  6. Maintains an adaptive talent planning process that remains responsive to evolving workforce needs and shifting strategic priorities.
  7. Delivers data analysis and summaries to drive decisions and measure the success of talent programs and initiatives, and design and deliver transformation initiatives and programs to build future skills.
  8. Gathers, organizes, and analyzes information regarding the impact of talent development and learning solutions against key business drivers; presenting information in a meaningful way.
  9. Utilizes data analytics tools and reporting systems to track and report on key performance indicators and trends related to talent development.

YOUR PROFILE

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Adult Education, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).
  2. Minimum of 8-10 years of Human Resources experience in learning & development, including program development, Change Management, needs analysis, design, validation, implementation, and evaluation; experience in operations functions is an asset.
  3. CPHR or other related professional certification is an asset.
  4. Ability to create and implement scalable talent development and succession planning solutions.
  5. Strong presentation, coaching, and communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  6. Comfort with talent data, analytics tools, and deriving insights to support decisions and measure impact.
  7. Strong organizational skills to lead complex initiatives and manage multiple timelines.
  8. Skilled in creating toolkits, guides, and scalable resources.
  9. Ability to align talent strategies with business priorities and long-term goals.
  10. Skilled at building relationships and influencing across functions and leadership levels.
  11. Comfortable in dynamic environments, adjusting plans as business needs evolve.
  12. Committed to staying current with best practices and innovations in talent management.
  13. Collaborative work style with the ability to consult, solicit input, influence, and support decision-making with leaders, including needs identification, developing action plans, and presenting results/recommendations.

The preferred location of this position is the Bethune mine or Saskatoon Head Office. Flexible work arrangements may be considered.

Employment is subject to successfully completing KSPC’s pre-employment checks, which may include criminal record check, education verification, functional fitness evaluation, and drug and alcohol testing.

This is a term position extending to December 31, 2026.
