Job Description

Teledyne CARIS and Teledyne Optech have united to form Teledyne Geospatial, offering holistic solutions for land and sea mapping through industry-leading lidar sensors and software workflows.

Teledyne CARIS is a leading developer of geospatial software for ocean mapping and marine information systems, headquartered in Fredericton, Canada. We provide software for processing sonar and LiDAR data, managing large datasets, creating charts and maps, and data sharing online. Our clients include government agencies, defense organizations, commercial survey companies, and academic institutions.

Teledyne Optech has been a pioneer in lidar and photogrammetry technology for 40 years, with products deployed worldwide, including on other planets.

We are seeking a Hydrographic Technical Support Consultant to join our CARIS Team in Canada.

Position Summary

As a hydrographic data processing expert, you will be the main contact for our clients, providing support via email, phone, online resources, and remote or onsite training worldwide. A minimum of two years' experience with EIVA, PDS, QPS, HIPS and SIPS, or equivalent, is required.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Provide first-line technical support to customers.
  2. Conduct software training in-office and at client sites.
  3. Develop strong relationships with clients.
  4. Analyze client systems, identify issues, and demonstrate solutions.
  5. Document workflows and technical notes.
  6. Participate in marketing and sales activities, including conferences.
  7. Gain expertise to provide consultancy services.
Job Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in Hydrography, Geomatics, or related fields, or proven hydrographic survey experience.
  2. Experience in scripting languages, preferably Python.
  3. Knowledge of Cloud technologies like AWS, Docker, Kubernetes is a plus.
  4. Cat A Hydrography Certification is an asset.
  5. Confidence in delivering training sessions.
  6. Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
  7. Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 25-30%).
  8. Strong interpersonal, intercultural, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.

The ideal candidate may also have:

  1. Experience with hydrographic processing software, especially CARIS products.
  2. Knowledge of bathymetric LiDAR systems.
  3. Experience with RDBMS like Oracle or PostgreSQL.
  4. Familiarity with RESTful APIs, SQL, JSON.
