As part of our growth, we are currently seeking a Hydrographic Technical Support Consultant to join our CARIS Team in Canada.

Position Summary:

As a technical expert in the field of hydrographic data processing, digital terrain modelling, bathymetric & topographic data management, and engineering analysis, you are the main point of contact with our current and future customers, providing support over email, phone, and online resources as well as trainings remote or onsite around the world. Minimum two years of experience with EIVA, PDS, QPS, or HIPS and SIPS or equivalent is required.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Provide first line technical support to our customers;
2. Provide software training in the office as well as at client sites;
3. Build close working relationships with existing clients;
4. Analyze current client systems and issues, identify technical problems, formulate, and demonstrate integrated solutions;
5. Document workflows, operating procedures, and technical notes for our customers;
6. Potentially be involved in marketing and sales activities of Teledyne CARIS, including attending international conferences and exhibitions;
7. Provide expert consultancy, once fully experienced within this role.

Job Qualifications:

1. At minimum a Bachelor degree in Hydrography, Geomatics or related disciplines;
2. Alternatively proven working experience in the fields of hydrographic surveys;
3. Experience in scripting languages (Python preferred);
4. Experience with Cloud technologies, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, is considered an asset;
5. Confidence to stand in front of a crowd and provide in-depth training events;
6. Fluency in English - a second language would be an asset;
7. Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 25-30%);
8. Strong social, inter-cultural, communicative, time management and problem solving skills.

The perfect candidate also brings one or several of the following:

1. Knowledge of and working experience with hydrographic processing software, especially using the CARIS line of products;
2. Experience with and knowledge of bathymetric LiDAR systems;
3. Knowledge and working experience with RDBMS packages (Oracle / PostgreSQL);
4. Affinity with RESTful API, SQL, JSON.
