Job description

Reporting to the Lift Operations Manager, the Lift Operations Assistant Manager oversees a team of 85+ seasonal operators and supports the Operations Manager in managing Lift Operations related to product, people, and guest experience. This role is ideal for a seasoned supervisor with a strong background in operations management, safety, productivity, team spirit, and guest service. The position requires a people-focused leader who can boost morale and productivity, retain employees, and foster excellence within the team.

Compensation: $60,000 to $70,000 per year

Physical Requirements: Medium, involving handling loads between 10kg and 20kg, mainly outdoors.

This role requires physical presence at the designated location.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in ski area operations, tourism management, or equivalent (preferred)
  • Lift 150 certification (asset)
  • Proven leadership skills with a record of team retention and motivation
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Ability to multitask and make sound decisions quickly
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Valid BC driver’s license with annual abstract
  • Skier/snowboarder proficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Guest experience champion and ambassador for Sun Peaks Resort

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and administration of staff
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of all lifts and conveyors
  • Conduct daily quality control checks of lifts, mazes, and lift ramps
  • Maintain records including lift logs, training, incident reports, and safety meetings

Leadership and Safety:

  • Ensure staff adherence to safety and inspection procedures
  • Oversee performance management, coaching, and mentoring
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, document minutes for compliance

OHS:

  • Oversee safety policies, incident reporting, and investigations

Other Responsibilities:

  • Follow environmental policies and serve on EMS committee
