Qualifications

  • Experience in operations management and team leadership.
  • Valid BC driver’s license and skier/snowboarder proficiency.

  • Assist with hiring, training, and scheduling of staff.
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of lifts and conveyors.
  • Conduct daily quality checks on lifts and mountain facilities.

Job description

Reporting to the Lift Operations Manager, the Lift Operations Assistant Manager oversees a team of 85+ seasonal operators and supports the Operations Manager in managing Lift Operations related to product, people, and guest experience. This role is suited for an experienced supervisor with a strong track record in operations management, safety, productivity, team spirit, and guest satisfaction. The position requires managing a seasonal workforce, driving team morale, and enhancing productivity.

Compensation and Physical Requirements

Salary: $60,000 to $70,000 per year

Physical Demands: Medium; involves handling loads between 10kg and 20kg, primarily outdoors.

This role requires physical presence at the designated location.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in ski area operations, tourism management, or related field (preferred)
  • Lift 150 certification (asset)
  • Proven leadership in team retention and motivation
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Ability to multitask and make sound decisions quickly
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Valid BC driver’s license with annual abstract
  • Skier/snowboarder proficiency
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Guest experience focus and ambassadorial qualities
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist with hiring, training, scheduling, and administration of staff
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of lifts and conveyors
  • Conduct daily quality checks on lifts and mountain facilities
  • Maintain records of operations, training, incidents, and safety meetings
Leadership and Safety
  • Ensure staff compliance with safety and inspection procedures
  • Oversee performance management, coaching, and mentoring
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings with proper documentation for compliance
OH&S Responsibilities
  • Oversee safety policies, incident reporting, and investigations
Additional Responsibilities
  • Adhere to Environmental Management policies and participate in EMS committee
