This role involves defining and specifying the overall structure and logical components of IT solutions, products, and services, ensuring compliance with Government of Ontario IT Standards. A significant portion of the role (50%) focuses on conducting options analysis, leading solution recommendations, and supporting decision-making for ministry initiatives. The remaining responsibilities encompass solution development and implementation using composable and modular architectures, maintaining knowledge of industry standards, and strong stakeholder engagement.
Location :
Hybrid position; 3 days / week on-site at any LRC location (Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Guelph, Toronto, Peterborough).
Responsibilities :
- Support projects aligned with Government of Ontario initiatives.
- Define and specify the overall structure and logical components of IT solutions.
- Define relationships among applications, reusable components, interfaces, and quality metrics.
- Develop, implement, and manage cross-platform applications in large, distributed environments.
- Define interactions between application packages, databases, and middleware.
- Develop enterprise architecture deliverables and conceptual models based on Ontario Government methodologies and standards.
- Conduct options analysis and support decision-making according to OPS directives and GO-ITS.
- Decompose and compose requirements for composable and modular architecture solutions.
- Assess business strategy, requirements, current environment, and technology to evaluate solution alternatives.
- Conduct cost / benefit analyses, feasibility studies, and provide recommendations.
- Lead solution options analysis and technology recommendations for ministry initiatives.
- Provide IT architecture expertise and leadership across domains (business, technology, applications, security, information).
- Develop and implement solutions based on composable and modular architectures, including API and data streaming integrations.
- Stay current with industry standards / trends (cloud, microservices, cybersecurity, etc.).
- Deliver advice, consultation, and recommendations on architecture and system analysis / design.
- Demonstrate strong communication, stakeholder management, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Engage with business stakeholders to understand mandates and requirements.
- Facilitate consensus building, negotiation, and problem-solving with diverse audiences.
Required Skills & Certifications :
- Experience in application architecture, systems analysis / design, structured methodologies, and use of modern tools.
- Knowledge of performance considerations, middleware, gateways, data / process modeling, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Understanding of object-oriented design, information management, and multi-tier infrastructure design.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work as a collaborative team player.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, documentation, and presentation skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications :
- Experience with Government of Ontario IT Standards (GO-ITS).
- Experience with composable and modular architectures, API and data streaming integrations.
Special Considerations :
- This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week on-site at one of the listed locations.
