About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our finance team in Vancouver. In this role, you will play a key part in maintaining the financial integrity of the company, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, and supporting the accounting team in day-to-day operations. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong accounting background who is looking to take on increased responsibility and contribute to the financial health of a growing organization.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Oversee, maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, journals, and accounts payable / receivable.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist with corporate tax filings and planning.
  • Perform account reconciliations, variance analysis, and adjustments.
  • Supervise AR processes, ensuring accurate billing, collections, and timely follow-up on overdue accounts. Work closely with the sales and project teams to ensure accurate invoicing and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial reports for management and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in special projects and provide accounting support for new initiatives and business strategies.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff and ensure adherence to accounting policies and procedures.
  • Supervisor billing reports for project manager markups and generate invoices for clients.
  • Cross-train all finance team members' roles to provide coverage during sick leave or vacation time.

Our Must Haves :

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Hold's a CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in accounting, with at least three years in a senior or supervisory role.
  • Experience working in a project-based environment is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency using project base software, ADP and advanced Excel skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in implementing ERP
  • Experience using VantagePoint

Compensation : $85,000 - $110,000 (Depending on experience)
