Summary
We are seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented, and customer service orientated HR Advisor to join our team. In this dynamic HR generalist role, you will serve as a trusted partner to site leadership, delivering both operational and strategic HR support. Key areas of responsibility include full-cycle recruitment, employee and labour relations, total rewards, leave and disability management, and workforce analytics. This position plays a critical role in aligning people practices with Bethany’s mission of creating caring communities.
This in-office role supports our Red Deer and Sylvan Lake sites. The primary work location is Red Deer, with regular travel to Sylvan Lake required.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment & Workforce Planning
• Lead end-to-end recruitment for assigned portfolios, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and hiring
• Collaborate with leaders to assess staffing needs and develop proactive workforce planning strategies
• Provide expert guidance on recruitment best practices, onboarding processes, and compliance with collective agreements
• Support organization-wide recruitment initiatives, including Summer Student programs and grant-funded roles
Employee & Labour Relations
• Provide advisory support on a range of labour and employee relations matters
• Lead and steward grievance and investigation processes in collaboration with HR Business Partners and site operations leaders
• Maintain records and documentation in accordance with legislative and policy standards
Leave & Disability Management
• Support accommodation cases, including medical and non-medical accommodations
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, privacy standards, and applicable legislation
HRIS & Workforce Analytics
• Maintain HRIS records and ensure accuracy of employee data
• Prepare regular workforce reports and analytics to support operational decision-making
• Provide insights on trends related to staffing, attendance, and performance
What You Bring:
Education
• Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management or Business-Related Field.
• CPHR Designation is an asset (or working towards).
Experience
• Minimum 3–5 years in an HR Advisor, Generalist, or Consultant role
• Experience supporting unionized environments preferred
• Demonstrated experience with investigations, grievance processes, and leave management
• Proficiency in HRIS and workforce data reporting
• Experience working in multi-site, multi-union workplaces is an asset.

• Committed to a high level of customer service.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient skills in Excel and MS Office.
• Highly organized, accurate and detail oriented.
• Ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.
• Hold and maintain Valid Class 5 driver’s license (travel to Bethany sites is required).
