Job description

SAIT’s International Centre is focused on attracting international students to study at SAIT, assisting with their transition to the institute and life in Canada, and supporting them while they study here. The Opportunity

The International Centre Office Assistant is primarily responsible for supporting the International Centre (IC) team to drive operational excellence, ensuring the IC's (and SAIT's) systems, processes, and functions meet or exceed industry standards.

The incumbent will handle various administrative tasks, including greeting international learners and visitors (face-to-face and virtually), managing IC email inboxes, and triaging inquiries. Additionally, they will provide general office support, including clerical activities and external partnership assistance.

Key skills include excellent organizational skills, outstanding verbal and written communication, exceptional interpersonal skills, and cross-cultural awareness. The role requires the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while maintaining a high degree of self-direction.

The Office Assistant will serve as a point of contact, providing support, guidance, information, and impartial advice to students, families, and high school counselors from a student perspective. They will collaborate with the Centre on various initiatives involving current and prospective students.

The Role
  1. Administrative & Information Management
  2. Respond to inquiries from current and potential learners via in-person, email, or phone, and triage responsibilities to the appropriate International staff. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of SAIT programs.
  3. Support with Fresh Desk triaging and responding to common inquiries.
  4. Assist with refund escalation emails.
  5. Support IC newsletter, website updates, and email template organization.
  6. Enter FOIP forms into Banner and save in appropriate locations.
  7. Enter application, credit, and agent information into Maximizer.
  8. International Marketing
  9. Support IC social media strategies through research, platform determination, messaging, and audience targeting.
  10. Assist with marketing strategies responsive to international environments.
  11. Support promotion and advertising efforts, including creating digital, print, and broadcast ads.
  12. Analyze and recommend appropriate advertising channels.
  13. Recruitment and Student Support
  14. Engage prospective students, parents, and counselors via email, social media, webinars, etc., providing accurate information from a student perspective.
  15. Communicate SAIT program, service, and policy information clearly and honestly.
  16. Work closely with Centre staff to deliver high-quality services supporting international student success.
  17. Collaborate with the Student Support and Recruitment teams.
  18. Assist with engagement activities, marketing, event support, content creation, and initiatives like the Airport Welcome Program.
  19. Participate in webinars and in-person sessions, and travel to event venues as needed.
Qualifications
  • Understanding of the international student experience and knowledge of SAIT's organizational structure, programs, admission requirements, and campus supports.
  • Current SAIT international students are preferred.
  • Ability to build community through engagement activities.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Proven ability to establish cooperative relationships with staff, colleagues, and school administrators.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin, Portuguese, Korean, Vietnamese, or Spanish is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

Salary Range: $18.38/hour
