What you will be doing
- Provide support to patients and healthcare providers, including information on Patient Support services, specific diseases, and therapies based on manufacturer-provided materials and product monograph;
- Work with patients and families to complete a needs assessment related to medication access;
- Act as a liaison between patients, families, healthcare providers, and payers related to medication access;
- Provide answers to general inquiry calls submitted via telephone or web-based platforms on program services, disease state, or product-related questions, based on information provided as part of the program materials;
- Provide ongoing support on disease state or product-related questions to ensure patient adherence, as dictated by the needs of the patient;
- Refer the patient to contact their healthcare provider for clinical questions, assessments, and situations outside the scope of program materials or manufacturer product monograph;
- Manage and audit database files and information regularly;
- Administer and adhere to case-management protocols, including data collection, patient follow-up, therapy disruption/discontinuation monitoring, adverse event reporting, and liaising with healthcare providers;
- Work directly with reimbursement specialists and physicians to secure funding for therapies; assist with alternative funding searches when needed;
- Prepare for and attend specialized training sessions for specific therapies provided by the pharmaceutical team, as required;
- Attend pharmaceutical meetings and patient conferences to educate patients and providers about Patient Support Program services;
- Collaborate with patient associations and advocacy groups as required;
- Establish and maintain partnerships with the pharmaceutical team;
- Liaise with healthcare providers, pharmacies, infusion clinics, and other agencies to coordinate infusions, drug delivery, and resolve issues;
- Communicate clearly with the manager, team, and clients regarding patient case management;
- Participate in the training of new Drug Access Navigators, including shadowing and call monitoring;
- Report adverse events following program SOPs;
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned, including standby/on-call responsibilities.
What your background should look like
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related field;
- Minimum of 3 years, preferably over 5 years, in healthcare, pharmaceutical, insurance industry, or related experience;
- Experience in healthcare and case management in medical/hospital practice or bio-pharma industry preferred;
- Bilingualism (French and English) strongly preferred;
- Strong multitasking, communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills;
- Ability to understand medical information and communicate effectively;
- Ability to work autonomously and handle sensitive issues with negotiation skills;
- Strong business, financial, analytical, and mathematical skills;
- Excellent organizational, presentation, and computer skills (Microsoft Office);
- Availability to travel at least 15% per year.
