The overall purpose of the Organizational Development Consultant role is to drive corporate-wide initiatives to enhance the employee experience and organizational culture of the WSIB.
This is accomplished by designing, developing, and executing key initiatives such as: WSIB’s
Corporate recognition program, Employee Experience survey, Enterprise action planning, Strategic Workforce Planning, Performance Management program, Corporate Values and competencies, as well as the Onboarding and off-boarding processes (including exit surveying).
The key to success in this role is to align organizational development solutions with WSIB’s Corporate Strategy, People strategy, organizational values, and competencies to ensure the deliverables bring value to the organization now and into the future.
This role provides expert advice and consultation to the Executive Committee and other Senior Management, HR Senior Management Committee, and other stakeholders on various organizational development programs and initiatives. Individuals in this role will be required to deliver compelling, engaging, and informative presentations to Senior leaders.
Major Responsibilities:
- Lead the research, design, development, and implementation of organizational development initiatives and solutions.
- Proactively assess and diagnose organizational needs relative to the strategic needs of the business. Key initiatives may include: Corporate recognition program, Employee Experience survey, Enterprise action planning, Strategic Workforce Planning, Performance Management program, Corporate Values and competencies, and the Onboarding and off-boarding processes (including exit surveying) for employees and leaders (including orientation and Executive onboarding).
- Apply systems thinking (holistic approach) to problem solving when developing solutions or recommendations. This involves making distinctions, organizing processes, recognizing relationships, and considering multiple perspectives to provide well-integrated solutions.
- Align organizational development solutions to WSIB’s Corporate Strategy, People strategy, organizational values, and competencies to ensure value delivery now and in the future.
- Use evidence and analytics to forecast trends and advise on organizational development programs and solutions.
2. Provide expert advice, consultation, and stakeholder engagement to the Executive Committee, Senior Management (including HR), and other key stakeholders.
- Design and implement programs and solutions that reflect industry best practices tailored to WSIB’s needs.
- Demonstrate strong business acumen and SME knowledge to link employee experience and culture strategies to business objectives.
- Advise on maximizing organizational effectiveness through solutions presented to Executives via discussions or presentations.
- Facilitate sessions, provide consultation, and coach colleagues (e.g., Business HR) to support their understanding of programs.
- Maintain awareness of industry best practices, thought leadership, and research.
- Develop and sustain effective communication and trust with program partners.
3. Lead cross-functional project teams to implement enterprise-wide organizational effectiveness initiatives.
- Manage key initiatives such as recognition programs, Employee Experience surveys, enterprise action planning, Workforce Planning, Performance Management, Values, and onboarding processes.
- Oversee all aspects of program design, development, implementation, and measurement using collaborative approaches, including partnering with Communications for effective messaging.
- Implement continuous improvements to enhance program effectiveness.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships through regular updates, feedback, and change management best practices.
- Cross-train in other branch programs to support agility and continuous support to the business.
- Maintain knowledge management resources for easier sharing of program knowledge.
4. Lead procurement and vendor management processes for assigned vendors.
- Collaborate with external vendors on projects and programs.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure positive interactions and bridge gaps between vendors and internal stakeholders.
Job Requirements:
1) Education:
- Bachelor's degree in HR Management, Applied Behavioral Sciences, Industrial Organizational Psychology, or equivalent experience.
- CHRL certification.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent.
- Change Management and Project Management certifications or designations.
- Additional expertise in HR areas, consulting, or coaching certifications.
2) Experience:
- Minimum 10 years in progressive Human Resources roles.
- Experience in Organizational Development, building organizational effectiveness, culture, performance management, engagement surveys, recognition, onboarding/offboarding, internal consulting, project management, and political acuity.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas persuasively and clearly to all levels.
Preferred:
- Experience in Strategic Workforce Planning, Strategic Planning, System Thinking, and Change Management.
