Engineered Air is looking for a seasoned Certified Customs Specialist ready to take the next step in their career. This role offers the chance to leverage your expertise in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. Reporting directly to the Manager of Procurement and Logistics, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all customs documentation for inbound and outbound shipments across Canada and the United States. This role also includes developing and delivering ongoing internal training programs for personnel at all manufacturing locations, as well as establishing and maintaining audit controls to ensure compliance with CBSA (Canada Customs) and U.S. Department of Homeland Security regulations.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Verify customs compliance based on reports analysis.
  • Maintain direct, day-to-day communication with customs brokers, internal stakeholders, vendors, and customs authorities.
  • Contact vendors for any missing documents.
  • Manage CUSMAs & USMCAs Free Trade Agreements (Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement and United States-Mexico-Canada) certification.
  • Verifying all paperwork for compliance and accuracy.
  • Verification of Incoterms 2022, such as DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), DPU (Delivered at Place Unloaded), COD (Cash on Delivery), etc.
  • Verify daily reports to ensure no shipments are delayed at Customs.
  • Analyze, assess, and design processes to streamline operational functions within the Customs / Purchasing team.
  • Establish and implement procedures to ensure compliance with Canadian Customs, US Customs, and any other government agency regulations.
  • Annual CUSMAs & USMCAs communication to Engineered Air clients and management of received CUSMAs & USMCAs for prompt handling.
  • Tariff classification and research, including assistance with New Account Set-Up
  • Database management, which includes tariff, vendors, CUSMAs & USMCAs, uploading and downloading of database details when applicable, and meeting the required standards.
  • Professional company representation to external agencies, including government, suppliers, and key client contacts.
  • Approving paperwork for payment by the accounting team.
  • Provide training to personnel at all locations.

QUALIFICATIONS / CERTIFICATIONS

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Designation required.
  • Strong understanding of valuation, CUSMA and USMCA, HS (Harmonized System) tariff code classifications, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), Assists, and other Customs areas.
  • Technical understanding of CUSMA & USMCA solicitation and validation processes.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Over 10 years of practical industry experience
  • Self-motivated and good organizational and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, research, and analytical skills.
  • Scheduling and time management.
  • Excellent knowledge of CBSA Regulations and CBP (US Customs) Regulations.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel and as well as the ability to learn new computer applications, are required.
  • Advanced knowledge of customs regulations, particularly the CSA program (Customs Self-Assessment), all aspects of FTA (Free Trade Agreements) programs, specific rules of origin determination certification, and Customs Security programs : C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) and PIP (Partners in Protection).
