About the Role

Be responsible for processes and procedures related to Baker Hughes' customs clearance. The Customs team supports the business as the importer of record, ensuring internal controls that promote efficient customs operations aligned with Baker Hughes IET customs standards.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the primary contact for customs operations, facilitating process enhancements and handling stakeholder queries.
  • Process notified imports timely and resolve inquiries.
  • File customs declarations and issue clearance instructions.
  • Prepare documentation and resolve transactional issues with brokers and logistics providers.
  • Assess and improve customs processes for efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain compliance with regulations and document retention policies.
  • Manage customs regimes and ensure proper controls and duty/VAT liabilities.
  • Review customs declarations and invoices, report findings, and initiate corrections.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of customs declarations.
  • Monitor shipments and resolve complex customs issues.
  • Advise teams on customs topics and support implementation of customs programs.
  • Report KPIs and perform trade process analyses.

  • Improve local customs processes and oversee operational activities.
  • Balance commercial needs with regulatory compliance.
  • Manage multiple third-party providers.
  • Measure process improvements and compliance levels.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree + 5+ years or High School + 8-10 years experience in customs compliance.
  • Knowledge of local customs regulations (CBSA, CARM, etc.).
  • Leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience leading teams and managing processes.
  • Desire to obtain in-country customs certification if not already held.
