Job Summary
This position uses import/export regulations to classify products and determines eligibility for various regulatory programs involved in international imports and exports. This position serves as a liaison between UPS and government entities, resolving issues related to customs declarations, shipping restrictions, and tax payments.
Job Type: Full-Time / Permanent / Remote
Workdays: Monday to Friday (must be able to work ALL 5 days of the week)
Shift Hours: 8.00 AM to 5.00 PM (mu st be able to work a minimum of 40 hrs. per week)
Shift Duration: 8 hours a day (requires flexibility with Start and Finish time)
Work Location: 1221 32ND AVENUELACHINE, QC H8T 3H2 or 1930 DERRY ROAD EAST MISSISSAUGA, ON L5S 1E2
Hourly Wage: QC : $23.04 per hour /ON: $ 24.09 per hour
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Substantiates classification decisions using General Rules of Interpretation (GROI), Explanatory Notes, CROSS (Customs Rulings Online Search System) and other resources.
Engages in Country of Origin verification projects, contact suppliers to obtain correct Country of Origin for customers' products.
Manages and organizes product databases and classification information in Excel and Access.
Enters product classifications and substantiation into proprietary operating system.
Communicates proactively with customers including educating customers on regulatory procedures.
Requirements
Excellent verbal and written communication skills: French 90% / English 10%
Level of French needed: proficiency
Level of English needed: intermediate
Intermediate-advanced computer skills: Microsoft Office (Excel)
Minimum 5 years of experience in customs operations - Required
Customs Specialist (CCS) certification - Required
Strong knowledge of US Customs and Border Protection Regulations
Previous International Trade, Logistics or Freight Forwarding experience - Preferred
Previous experience with classification and/or FTA determination - Preferred
Bachelor's degree or International equivalent - Preferred
Problem-solving and multitasking skills
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, basic research, attention to detail, and time management skills
