Under general supervision, performs related Inventory duties such as maintaining and monitoring inventory levels, performing physical inventory counts, identifying items for re-ordering, completing necessary paperwork and/or inputting counts into computerized hand-held units. Receives, unpacks, inspects, sorts and distributes incoming supplies to allocated areas by using transportation carts and operating pallet jacks. Communicates with user area personnel by responding to queries on supplies, obtaining procurement information from the computer system to alleviate potential supply-related problems. Rotates stock and routinely inspects for products for outdates and removes from shelves if any outdated product is found. Cleans and maintains tidiness of stock areas and related equipment. Receives incoming supplies, checks the quality and quantity of goods, signs for all products, and utilizes a computerized inventory database system.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain and monitor levels of inventory supplies such as pharmacy-ward stock and sterile supplies, including performing physical counts, identifying re-order points, and scanning items for replenishment using handheld devices.
- Receive, unpack, and inspect incoming supplies; compare receiving reports against goods received; resolve discrepancies; and handle damaged goods returns with proper documentation.
- Sort and distribute supplies to designated areas, issue stock from pick lists, load supplies onto carts or shelves, and ensure proper labeling and placement for efficient processing and dispatch.
- Respond to urgent requests by retrieving items from Stat Stores, Central Warehouse, or Sterile Supply Department, and deliver to area personnel promptly.
- Communicate with users regarding stock shortages, incomplete orders, or deletions; verify back-ordered items, and consult with supervisors or department heads to resolve issues.
- Adjust inventory levels based on user requests, complete necessary paperwork, and inform supervisors of changes.
- Participate in product standardization initiatives, including replacing old products, updating labels, and returning outdated stock to the warehouse or vendors.
- Manage product recalls by quarantining affected items, retrieving from units, and coordinating with procurement for return or disposal.
- Rotate stock routinely, inspect for outdates, and remove expired products from shelves and storage areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of storage and work areas, including removing stock, cleaning bins, and restocking appropriately.
- Receive incoming supplies, verify quality and quantity, sign for goods, and return damaged items with proper documentation.
- Assist in orienting new staff regarding job duties and departmental procedures.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 plus one year of recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (including receiving, warehouse, supervisory, analyst, and scheduling/time-keeping experience).
- Knowledge of Indigenous-specific mandates, cultural safety, and humility, with a demonstrated understanding of the impacts of settler colonialism and systemic racism on Indigenous Peoples within social and health contexts.
- Familiarity with legislative obligations and provincial commitments such as the TRC Calls to Action, BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act, UNDRIP, and related documents, and the ability to apply this knowledge in the workplace.
