Primary Responsibilities:

Under the guidance of the CPAC Director, the National Political Action Officer will coordinate national political campaigns, contribute to strategy development, and ensure the effective rollout of campaigns nationwide.

What you will bring to the table:
Education/Experience
  • A combination of education and experience in labour relations, union practices, and programs.
Knowledge
  • Understanding of media strategies supporting membership campaigns.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Canadian political system.
  • Familiarity with PSAC policies, constitution, and alliance program objectives.
  • Commitment to union and equity principles.
  • Knowledge of political campaign strategies and techniques.
  • Management skills demonstrated through previous experience.
Abilities
  • Budget preparation and monitoring skills.
  • Ability to manage change and organizational issues effectively.
  • Planning and priority-setting skills.
  • Strategic thinking and goal development.
  • Ability to foster trust and cooperation among staff.
  • Second language skills as per CEFR level B2; assessment may be part of the hiring process.
  • Willingness to travel and work evenings/weekends as required.

  • Good judgment, diplomacy.
  • Time management skills for handling conflicting priorities.
  • Political awareness and respect for workers.

Additional information:
  • Second language proficiency as per CEFR B2; valid SLE results can be used.
  • Experience and training may substitute formal academic requirements.
