Reporting to the site Supervisor of Respiratory Therapy, the Respiratory Therapist provides diagnostic data, administers respiratory therapy, and formulates and charts care plans according to established procedures. The role ensures the safe and appropriate application of various respiratory equipment and procedures across areas such as adult, paediatric, and neonatal intensive care units, cardiovascular units, respiratory rehabilitation programs, clinics, emergency rooms, and medical-surgical nursing units. The Respiratory Therapist demonstrates respiratory care procedures and the operation of related equipment to patients and hospital staff.
Graduation from a recognized program in Respiratory Therapy. Eligibility for registered membership with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
