Job description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority, patient safety is a priority and a shared responsibility. Continuous improvement in quality and safety is inherent in this position.

Responsibilities

1. Report to the appropriate site Supervisor, Respiratory Therapy.
2. Provide diagnostic data and administer respiratory therapy.
3. Formulate and chart care plans following established procedures.
4. Ensure the safe and appropriate use of respiratory equipment and procedures in areas such as adult, paediatric, and neonatal intensive care units, cardiovascular unit, respiratory rehabilitation programs, clinics, emergency room, and medical-surgical units.
5. Demonstrate respiratory care procedures and operate related equipment to patients and hospital staff.

Qualifications

Graduation from a recognized Respiratory Therapy program. Eligible for registered membership with the British Columbia Society of Respiratory Therapists (BCSRT).
