Job Description
WHAT’S THE JOB?
Based in Waterloo, ON, we are seeking an experienced and passionate Chef Manager to oversee daily food service operations.
As a Chef, you will oversee kitchen operations including ordering, inventory management, budgeting, menu planning, staff training, and ensuring health and safety standards are met according to Dana Hospitality guidelines. You will collaborate closely with the client and Food Service Director to deliver high-quality food and service to students and guests.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing fresh, scratch-made menus for guests
  • Leading employee training, development, and mentoring
  • Innovating programming to create a 'WOW' factor and lead in the segment
  • Ensuring food safety using FOODSAFE and HACCP standards, in line with Dana Hospitality guidelines
  • Serving clients and staff professionally and personable
  • Applying knowledge of dietary restrictions, allergies, vegan, and vegetarian options in meal planning and preparation
  • Conducting weekly inventory checks

Qualifications
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Food Safe, Basic, Advanced, First Aid, Red Seal certification preferred, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in hospitality or food service
  • Over 3 years of cooking experience with knowledge of international and domestic cuisines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, GFS, Outlook
  • Extensive knowledge of menu costing and inventory management
  • Strong practical and theoretical expertise in all kitchen areas: hot, cold, pastry/bakery, butchery, and catering
  • Effective leadership skills, positive personality, and good listening skills
  • Values of accountability, respect, health and safety, and trust
  • Desire for growth, innovation, and engagement
