Your New Role...

This role will be the People & Culture Partner for Warner Bros. Discovery in Japan . The role holder will be responsible for end-to-end P&C support, from strategic business partnership to employee experience across all our lines of business—Theatrical, Networks, Consumer Products, Content Licensing, Anime Production, Japanese Film Production, Game, Streaming Service, and corporate functions.

As we transition from multiple legal entities and lines of business to form One WBD Team post-merger, we need to focus on building a strong culture where every individual can do their best work. We seek a passionate leader who loves making a difference and plays to win to lead our People & Culture efforts in Japan.

The incumbent should be an HR subject matter expert, practical, and execution-focused. Comfortable coaching senior leaders, leveraging global resources / CoE Support, and working in a diverse environment are essential.

Your Role Accountabilities...

  • Drive the People & Culture strategy to meet business needs.
  • Contribute to business strategy; provide expertise and create ways to build a new WBD Culture in the region with a focus on DEI.
  • Serve as People & Culture advisor, coach, and partner to the Japan leadership team.
  • Participate in broader People & Culture projects across APAC / International.
  • Provide best practice advice and support, sharing information internally and benchmarking externally.
  • Facilitate meaningful connections among people, teams, and organizations.
  • Create exceptional employee experiences throughout the employee lifecycle, ensuring fairness, respect, and alignment with values and objectives.
  • Partner with Legal, Communications, Finance, and other functions on sensitive organizational matters.
  • Use data to analyze trends and recommend proactive solutions to systemic issues.
  • Harmonize people programs, policies, and practices to sustain a positive work environment.
  • Be operationally strong and hands-on.

Qualifications & Experiences...

Experience

  • Effective persuasion, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to influence in a matrix environment; conflict resolution experience is helpful.
  • Knowledge of Employee and Labor Relations laws and practices.
  • Project management and process improvement experience is a plus.

Leadership

  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and excellence.
  • Builds collaborative relationships with a mix of gravitas and humanity.
  • Enjoys working in fast-paced, agile environments; previous experience in tech companies is beneficial.
  • Team player capable of working with internal and external stakeholders.

Business Skills

  • Business-level Japanese and English communication skills.
  • Strong data handling skills, especially in Excel.
