Position Summary
Partner with Area Operations Leaders and General Managers to understand business objectives and to identify, develop, and deliver training needs for the Region (Canada).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support employee development and retention by delivering and managing established programs
- Act as an internal consultant to the operation and customize existing programs to fit local needs
- Coordinate and facilitate select training programs for all union and other non-exempt employees in assigned units
- Identify performance/behavior gaps, make recommendations, and provide solutions to improve business performance, increase retention, and develop future leaders
- Seek out training opportunities and create high-impact, low-cost solutions
- Take ownership of each program’s implementation and success
- Coach Supervisors on how to train new hires
- Develop training skills of Subject Matter Experts and assist with program/course development
- Act as the process owner and lead facilitator for new hire orientation and provide ongoing training for new hire employees
- Develop a tracking and measurement system to ensure the effectiveness of training
- Complete related work as needed to accomplish human resources and organizational missions
Education
- Bachelor degree from a four-year college or university required
Work Experience
- At least 5-8 years experience as a training manager
- Experience training in transportation, hospitality, manufacturing, or food service environment highly desirable
- Prior extensive experience working with a learning management system (LMS) required
- Experience and formal training in instructional design required
Job Skills
- Multilingual skills required
- Must be fully bilingual in both French and English
- Experience and demonstrated competency in facilitating, business partnering, relationship building, instructional design, analysis, and time management
- Ability to use consulting skills to identify goals and overcome obstacles, and willingness to earn “a seat at the table”
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts and days off
- Experience with LMS, web-based training delivery, and lean manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, action-oriented, and collaborative skills
- Proficiency in computer and database applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
Communication Skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience presenting to groups
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Bilingual in both French and English required
Travel
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time across 9 sites in Canada from Vancouver to Halifax, and occasionally to the US
