About the opportunity
This hands on role plays an integral part in all aspects of accounting operations with opportunities to work on various projects as we grow the business, such as due diligence for acquisitions. The ideal candidate will be someone who can roll up their sleeves to lead our accounting operations. This individual should enjoy a fast-paced environment, be a team player and have an excellent ability to prioritize individual and team objectives while developing the accounting infrastructure. This role reports directly to the CEO of the company. You will manage a full-time accounting clerk who will help you perform your duties.
Main activities and responsibilities
Accounting operations
-Manage daily accounting functions and client inquiries, in collaboration with our care operations’ team
-Accounts receivable: oversee the weekly billing and payment processing
-Accounts payable: verify supplier invoices, supervise weekly payments
-Payroll: supervise and manage our bi-weekly process in our payroll software
-Bank reconciliation: perform routine verifications in our accounting software
-Revise/update controls to safeguard billing and payment processes
-Management of our accounting clerk incl. training and performance evaluation
Tax compliance
-Quarterly sales taxes declaration and filing
-Payroll deductions
-Corporate income tax installments
Statutory duties
-Assist the team to respond to inquiries from employees
-Coordinate with payroll company for year-end T4 and R1 preparation and its digital distribution
-Manage CNESST filing as needed
-Ensure all activities on our financial calendar are done in a timely manner
Financial reporting
-Ensure timely execution and review of month-end and quarter-end close activities including account reconciliation, analysis, and reporting (P&L, balance sheet, AR/AP outstanding, statement of cash flows)
-Assist in the year-end closing (managed by our accounting firm partner)
-Work on the annual budgeting and forecasting, including client rates and frontline workers’ compensation
-Data analysis: analyze financial data to identify trends, variances and areas for improvement
