Job description

Pacific Northern Gas Ltd. (PNG), a subsidiary of TriSummit Utilities Inc., owns and operates natural gas processing, transmission and distribution systems in British Columbia’s lower Peace, west central, and north coast regions. PNG’s western transmission system extends from the Enbridge gas transmission system north of Prince George and along the Highway 16 corridor to Terrace and then onto the port communities of Kitimat and Prince Rupert, providing gas transportation and service to twelve communities and a number of industrial facilities. In the Province’s northeast, Pacific Northern Gas (N.E.) Ltd., a subsidiary of PNG, provides gas processing, transmission and distribution service in the Dawson Creek, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge areas.

PNG's operations department in the Northwest has an immediate opening for a qualified E&I Technician I in Burns Lake, BC. We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems and instrumentation equipment.

What You Will Do:

  • Carry out calibration, maintenance, installation, activating, and upkeep of all electrical, electronic and pneumatic systems relevant to PNG Compressor Stations.
  • Check and maintain the telemetry “SCADA” system.

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on electrical systems and instrumentation.

Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and instrumentation issues.

Collaborate with senior compression team members, engineering, and operations teams to ensure optimal system performance.

Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and materials used.

  • Carry out daily operation routines and upkeep of compressor stations.
  • Train other junior E & I personnel.
  • Adhere to safety standards and regulations.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and PLCs.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent education
  • Ideally 1 year experience in Industrial Process Control & Maintenance
  • PLC programming experience is ideal.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Wage Rate:

  • $51.51 an hour as per collective agreement.
