Finning Canada is seeking a Journeyperson Electrician/HET to join our Power & Energy service team, supporting CAT generator systems across customer sites and industries. You will install, commission, test, and troubleshoot CAT generator sets, energy storage systems, and electrical controls in field environments.

The role emphasizes safety, independence, and representation of Finning and Caterpillar to the highest standard, with competitive wages and premiums.

Qualificações

• Journeyperson Electrician with CAT experience preferred.
• HET certification or willingness to pursue apprenticeship.
• Safety training including Arc Flash and Shock is required.
• Experience working on generators/power systems is essential.

Responsabilidades

• Install, commission, service, and troubleshoot CAT generator sets (diesel and natural gas).
• Perform electrical work on generator controls, ATS, switchgear, distribution equipment, and control systems.
• Read electrical schematics and perform functional testing and load bank testing.
• Perform mechanical work on large diesel and natural gas engines, air compressors.

Position Overview:

Finning Canada is seeking a Journeyperson Electrician/HET to join our Power & Energy service team, supporting Caterpillar (CAT) generator systems across a variety of customer sites and industries. This role is primarily responsible for the installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting/repairs of CAT generator sets, battery energy storage systems, electrical distribution/control systems, and compressed air products.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical capability, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a field based environment while representing Finning and Caterpillar to the highest standard.

What’s In It For You:

• Wage $55.84 ($50.25/hr. during probation)
• $2.55 field premium when working at a remote mine site, $3.55 field premium when dispatched out of a local branch
• Dual ticket premium $3.25/hour
• Shift: 14x14 Continuous shift. All hours worked on Sundays paid at double-time
• Up to $1,000 travel assist per 28 day rotation
• Paid Time Off in Year 1: Vacation, and Sick

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:

• Install, commission, service, and troubleshoot CAT generator sets (diesel and natural gas)
• Perform electrical work on:
• Generator controls (EMCP/ECS platforms)
• Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
• Switchgear and distribution equipment
• Paralleling and load‑sharing systems
• Control Systems
• Read and interpret Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams and single line diagrams
• Functional testing and verification
• Load bank testing
• Perform mechanical work on:
• Large Diesel and Nat. Gas engines
• Air Compressors

Qualifications:

• Journeyperson Electrician Certification (Red Seal preferred)
• HET Certification; (Apprentices will be considered) or, Willing to pursue apprenticeship
• Electrical Safety Training – Arc Flash and Shock (CSAZ462)
• FSRA or FSRB credential would be considered an asset
• Proven experience working on generators or power systems
• Experience with:
• Generator installation and commissioning
• Natural Gas & Diesel Engine systems
• ATS and emergency power systems
• Electrical troubleshooting in industrial environments
• Power Generation experience would be considered an asset
• Generator Rebuild experience would be considered an asset
• Heavy Duty Mechanical experience or certification would be considered an asset
• Team player capable of working with minimal supervision, in challenging conditions
• Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
• Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
• Note: A skills assessment may be required during the application/review process
