Finning Canada, the world’s largest Caterpillar dealer, is seeking a dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic for our Surrey team. You will diagnose, repair, and overhaul large industrial, marine, and power generating engines, with on-site field work and safety compliance at the core of every job.

You must be a Journeyperson HET with a valid license and experience rebuilding engines; CAT training and Finning S-Levels are considered assets. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and employee share plans.

Qualifications

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification is required.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.
• Experience rebuilding engines/components is preferred.
• Safety‑conscious team player with strong communication and organization.
• Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, and Caterpillar training are assets.

Responsabilités

• Diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls of large engines (industrial, marine, power gen).
• Perform field diagnosis and on-site repairs.
• Support with on-site safety requirements.
• Maintain Finning customer service commitments.
• Complete service reports, warranty and crossover notes.
• Interact with customers and Finning teams.
• Collaborate with Service Supervisor and Lead Hand.

Job Description

Major Job Functions:

• Diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls of large industrial, marine, and power generating engines.
• Perform field diagnosis and repairs
• Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
• Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, product and sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Lead Hand on various tasks as required

Qualifications

• Interprovincial Heavy Equipment Technician (HET) Certification
• Valid driver’s license with a successful recent drivers abstract
• Engine and/or component rebuilding experience
• Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
• Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls, or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
• Completion of Caterpillar product courses would be considered an asset
• Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset
