Job summary

AMA - Alberta Motor Association is seeking an Instructor, Novice to help lead our mission of safe driving. Reporting to the Supervisor, Novice Instruction, you will provide quality vehicle instruction to students in Alberta, following AMA’s standards and Alberta Transportation guidelines.

You’ll be available after school, evenings, and weekends. Ideal candidates hold a High School Diploma, Alberta Class 1/2/4 license, and several years of driving instruction experience; you’ll mentor learners,

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two years licensed driving instructor experience with endorsements.
• Ability to obtain security clearance (Vulnerable Sector Check).
• Strong instructional and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality vehicle instruction to students following AMA standards.
• Follow Alberta Transportation guidelines for Driving Instructors.
• Give constructive feedback to help students become licensed and safe drivers.
• Be available after school, evenings, and weekends.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Reporting to the Supervisor, Novice Instruction, you will provide quality vehicle instruction to students, following AMA’s instruction requirements and customer service standards.
• Follow Alberta Transportation guidelines and policies for Driving Instructors.
• Provide constructive feedback on student drivers’ abilities, helping them develop the confidence and skills necessary to become licensed, safe drivers for life.
• Be available after school, evenings, and weekends, to meet students’ scheduling needs.

What You Bring to the Table

• High School Diploma (or equivalent)
• Class 1, 2, or 4 Alberta Operator’s Licence
• Minimum two years licensed as a Driving Instructor with appropriate endorsements
• Minimum two years’ experience across multiple areas of driver education
• Clean Driver’s Abstract (10 years)
• Ability to obtain security clearance, including Vulnerable Sector Check
• Strong instructional, communication, and leadership skills
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, travel as required, and adjust schedules to meet business needs
